MESIL® Functional Silane - 3-Aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (3-APTS)


MESIL® ME-540, 3-Aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (3-APTS), is a Silane Coupling Agent that is used in various industries, such as coatings, adhesives, composites, ceramics, and electronics, to improve the bonding properties of different materials.


ME-540 has a reactive amino group, which can form a chemical bond with hydroxyl (OH) or carboxyl (COOH) groups on the surface of the materials being joined. This improves the adhesion between the surfaces and helps to prevent the formation of voids, cracks, or other defects in the bond.

In, Sealants, Rubbers And Plastics, we still use Speciality Silica and Fumed Silica. Silica is commonly used as a filler in sealants to improve properties such as abrasion resistance, tensile strength, and durability. Fumed silica is a particularly popular form of silica for use in sealants, due to its high surface area and small particle size, which contribute to good rheological and thixotropic behavior in sealant formulations. Precipitated silica can also be used in sealants to improve mechanical properties and reduce shrinkage.
